Solo Exhibition
Galleri Hans, Ørland, Norway, September 2025
GUL is a personal and poetic exploration of identity, belonging, and healing, conveyed through textile in relation to the body. Drawing on her background as a child of Vietnamese boat refugees, Lieu Le explores what it means to live between cultures – an experience that profoundly shapes both her life and artistic practice.

Her textile sculptures in yellow are inspired by Vietnamese and Asian amulet traditions, where objects are carried or attached to the body to offer spiritual and physical protection. Le sees her works as bodily and symbolic amulets, tactile anchors that hold both vulnerability and strength. The textiles are hand-dyed with plant-based colors in varying shades of yellow – a color associated with wisdom, awakening, energy, and vitality in Buddhism.

The project GUL was awarded the Ørland Sparebank Art Grant and was presented in a solo exhibition at Galleri Hans, organized by Ørland Kunstforening, in September 2025.
GUL is an ongoing project, that will continue in 2026.
